Remember the Beachy Decor in my Guest Bathroom? I love the little touch of coral in my Apothecary Jar. Wanna know where I got them, because they are not real. In fact, they are not only faux but they are "faux, faux". Have you seen how much it costs to even purchase fake coral at catalog prices? It's not cheap.
Sale 79.99 Really???!!!???
Backing up a bit on the blog, here is my fall mantel. I just LOVE decorating around our honkin' huge TV (with sarcasm in my voice):
Here is my summer mantel, much whiter and brighter to put us in a more summertime mood:
I'm no decorating diva but I like they way it looks and more so the fact of the price of the shells and coral.
I wanted to share with you the quick solution that I found last year (pre-blogging again) from one of my daily reads, Home Stories from A to Z. I like Beth's cute home and her Faux Coral Post got my attention quick. I have some similar brown leather couches and occasionally
stalk look to her blog for decorating advice to help liven up the room without the dark brown weighing it down too much.
What a cute vignette on her shelves and take a look at her coffee table.
Notice the coral?
I am not going to rehash Beth's whole tutorial since it's pretty self-explanatory, but can you guess what she did to make her very own faux coral? She headed over to Walmart (my kind of girl) and picked up some brightly colored fake coral from the pet and fish department. Brilliant Girl!!!
Don't worry if your Walmart doesn't carry them, you can also find this at Amazon.com - see Affiliate Link
I was not as in luck last year because our Walmart only had red and orange and dark blue, so with inspiration from Beth I sprayed my pieces with Rustoleum Heirloom White Spray Paint and they all came out super. They look great and so real!
Perfect for summertime!
Thanks for checking out my Faux, Faux Coral.
I hope you give it a try!
