I have been trying so very hard to work on a blog button so that I can share Curb Alert! more easily, especially when I link up to blog parties. It’s been so much fun 🙂 If you are a super-techy, computer savvy person, please help me out! I am having technical difficulties!
I was easily side-tracked in the blog button task and eventually ended up pondering what the heck I am getting myself into here? why the need to share this part of my life. Shopping the curbs, resale shops and thrifting are just a few of my hobbies. I actually do enjoy many other things that involve my family, my church and my friends. They all complete me and make me happy but how can I successfully mesh the parts of me without feeling too trashy timid? So what part of me am I fulfilling, how can I use this ability to help and bless others? I want to take care of the ones I love most, my priorities and still want to do everything that I do -but at the same time have a purpose and meaning to it all. Hmmmm…
Although I don’t take myself too seriously as I look around while in route to my regular life responsibilities, I do think it’s important to keep a few key things handy in the trunk in mind while out and about. Well there are some of those out there who really take this obsession a little too far seriously and scour neighborhoods and dumpsters at a street near you.
Here is a little bit of info that I found on a website forum called Dumpster Divers Paradise and yes I am a member just for kicks:
What kind of tools do I need?s
Lysol wipes/Baby wipes to keep clean hands or to wipe found items down. (check!)
Although not necessary, it is good to have a few tools of the trade:
A good pair of gloves will come in handy. (check!)
A good flashlight is necessary if dumpster diving at night. (check!)
A good stepladder is helpful for getting in dumpsters, (need this!)
A milk crate might also be used as a stool for standing on while leaning in a dumpster.(?)
An unger is a very helpful tool this tool might be better know as a “gopher grabber” or Nifty Nabber :A trash Pick-Up Tool with Aluminum Handle. You might have seen highway workers using these tools on the side of the road picking up trash (check)
Also, a good first aid kit with band aids and a small bottle of alcohol. (check)
Okay, I checked off the items I already have in my car. It was easy since My Love has insisted that I keep them handy in case of an emergency (Thank you Love!) Little did he know how very useful those items have already been to me.That Dumpster Divers Paradise website is serious business! and somehow if you read further on the FAQ page it stresses multiple times to “Never Ever Try Getting Into A Compactor!” I would assume that’s a given! It doesn’t hurt to keep safety in utmost consideration, right?
Well back to the blog button issue! I will succeed today and figure it out!
I am also working on finalizing a little item I found curbside a few weeks ago (any guesses?) while assisting My Love in completing our DIY bedroom renovation — all while looped up on Nyquil cold meds. Thank goodness he will be the one using the power tools!
Incomplete temp. wall here-I just lost my dining room space 🙁
