What Would YOU Do? {Odd Items}

8

Sometimes I wonder, what in the heck are you doing Tami?  Like when I find something and drag it home and it either
1. messes or muddies up my car
2. is super heavy or large or
3. is something so odd that I am at a loss with what to do with it!

Today I am going to share with you the latter of the above.

Exhibit A:

I found it a few weeks ago and it intrigued me.  At first glance I thought it was half of someone’s headboard and am still convinced that is what it is.  But why did they decide to saw it in half?  I try to figure out what these people were doing before they put something out to the curb.  Was it a remnant from a divorce and was sawed in half as in splitting up the matrimonial bed?  Or did it break while trying to move it?  Who knows but they could have at least had the decency to leave the other half for me to grab!

I’m thinking along the lines of yard decor and turning it into some sort of a flag.   I love to embarrass my kids My kids love it when I put out silly yard decor for the holidays so this just might be a fun one to work on.
That’s all I got on this one so I welcome any of your thoughts! Of course I could always chunk it but that would be no fun 🙁
Exhibit B:
I have no idea what this is.  My only guess it was on someone’s deck as a decorative piece?  Not sure.  My first thought is to paint it black and add it to Bubba’s Karate decor.  It’s super heavy and almost six feet tall so may be difficult to hang on a wall.  Or maybe something like this?
Exhibit C:

I am a little clueless on this one but we do live near some protected bird sanctuaries so maybe it would be common courtesy to slightly leave it in it’s orginal form and construct something like this:
Of course all three of these items intrigued me enough to grab them, so I look forward to figuring out something fun and fabulous to turn them into.
Do you think my ideas will work or do you have something in mind?
Please share.  I’d love to hear YOUR ideas.
Happy Treasure Hunting!

  1. Hey Tami,
I love all this stuff and like you would want to create something out of them. The first item that half a headboard might look great as a sign for the front yard with your family name on it and date you moved in or something like that. The others I don't have a clue but they look like keepers to me.

  2. I love the idea for the last one making it into a birdhouse…maybe the second one could be some kind of loooooong birdfeeder? It has so many slots you could do different types of food for the different species in your area? The first one would look great cut into the the initial of your last name for your yard! The flag idea is great too!

  3. Interesting finds in deed! Lately, the only thing we have seen is dried up Christmas trees. Can't wait until people start spring cleaning around here!

  4. Ok Tami being the gardner that I am. The long metal thing I would try turning it on it's side make it tall. Maybe paint your last name inside each spot. Maybe for your front porch. Love the bird house idea. It does look like the top from a bird house. The bed post, can you turn it on it's side fill in the holes with putty, paint it and put some cool words on the "flag" part. Hang it in one of the kids' rooms. Just thinking, such cool stuff.

  5. i would have definitely grabbed the last two items! The long rectangular thingy is cool…even though its huge,I would still use it as a wall decoration….sometimes big things make a great impact!
The bird house thingy is cool…maybe a yard decoration of some sort….Great Finds!!!!

  6. I'm thinking the long metal thing-y was a chicken feeder? And the roof thing-y, a cupola off a barn.
What about a light fixture for the roof thing?
And a really long heavy table runner for the metal thing?
Oh, and I would chalkboard that headboard piece and hang it sideways. Still kinda flag-ish but useful.
