Hi friends! How has your week been? Mine has been super busy with preparing our home to sell. We have TWO weeks left (GULP!) and we are jumping into the market! I haven’t been posting much because I want to spare you of toilet cleaning, floor scrubbing, weed pulling, blah blah blah. Not too exciting, but what IS exciting is that during this time I have been super inspired by some of my fellow blog ladies this week.
Julie @ redheadcandecorate.com started it all with her post, Redhead Blog Bulge (you know, the extra way too many few pounds from sitting too long at the computer?) I can definitely relate! and many others did as well. We couldn’t let her do this alone so we joined forces and created:
Blog Bulge Babes is a group dedicated to take better care of ourselves by getting fit. I need to make a long overdue change in my fitness and eating habits and look forward to these gals to hold me accountable. We all have different goals and ideas of how we want to achieve keeping fit and have vowed to look turn to each other for inspiration and encouragement. We would like to share the inspiration with you as well.
You are invited to join us on our “Blog Bulge Babes” Facebook Group where we share our stories and positive feedback. Be sure and go check out their blogs because they are writing about their stories this morning as well!
Speaking of sharing, I bet you guys have a ton of inspiration to share as well! How about a favorite healthy recipe, fitness tip, weight loss story? – basically anything “getting healthy” related!
This party is a source of family friendly support and inspiration for getting healthy and weight loss and will stay open until June 6th so you can link up at anytime!
You will find the linkup at the end of this post.
We will also be sharing your links on our Pinterest Board, Facebook, Twitter and G+!
Please help spread the word by displaying the party button on your sidebar, in your post or on your Facebook page. Shout it out and invite others to join us in this journey. You may also co-host the link party with us by joining the Facebook Group and requesting the code.
I am personally excited to see where it takes us!
And now a little bit more about me.
No, I am not going to tell you my weight like our brave friend Julie did but I am going to tell you that I have never watched my weight or worried about my health my entire life, until I reached 40! Some may consider that silly or lucky but with the birth of my fourth child everything changed. I can no longer eat anything I want, my body cannot tolerate certain foods (the list is now growing!), I have some very bad eating habits and have gained 25 pounds since baby #4! My health has declined and I do not have near the energy like I used to!
I am such a bad example to my children. I HATE that! I want to change and teach them a better lifestyle.
I am vowing to my family to get up off of my butt and spend more activity time with them, eat healthier and make better food choices!
My biggest downfall is soda, Coca Cola to be exact. I have consumed 4 or 5 a day for as long as I can remember! The sugar alone is so many additional calories, makes me feel bloated and is horrible for my heart. Caffeine is no better and I am addicted to both and don’t those cans contain cancer causing, BHP?
I don’t even want to think of what that has done to my body! I cannot obsess about what I have done wrong and can only think of how to move forward and improve my health. My challenge for the last two weeks has been to only drink one a day and I am proud that I have stuck with it! Guess what, in the process I have already lost 5 pounds! That makes me very happy.
Next weeks challenge is to eliminate cokes all together and stick with unsweetened tea. I am sure I can do it, especially with these Blog Babes, my family, and you helping me out! Please help keep me motivated!
I have mentioned in the past how I hate to cook, which also leads me to bad food choices. I would much rather grab something quick and easy than preparing a meal. I admit that I cheated and this was last night’s meal (Sonic combo meal):
Well no more! I am going to try to stick with some lighter choices for myself
(Campbell’s Tomato Soup) …
…and beg be a better example so my kids will get excited to join me.
(Campbell’s Tomato Soup with Goldfish crackers).
Do you like salads? Have you ever looked up how many calories are in that amazing thick Ranch Dressing? Too many! I don’t know about you but I cannot eat the lettuce without an extra gallon of the stuff!
Now instead of grabbing the typical house salad slathered with Ranch Dressing, I have decided to stick with a lighter, healthier Strawberry Vinegarette! My friend brought this salad over a while back and I have been hooked on it ever since.
Doesn’t it look fabulous!
Y U M !!!
Finally, the snackie snacks! Bloggers typically sit at the computer for extended periods of time and speaking from personal experience tend to have drinks and snacks in hand. My crutch is a candy bar and that darn Coca Cola!
Now my fridge is stocked with much smarter choices. How can you grab something good, when all you have in the pantry is chips and chocolate? It takes a bit more of an effort but I am going to try to keep my fridge stocked with all of nature’s goodness!
Here’s a peek into my fridge:
So what do you think? Want to join us? Well go grab some inspiration and share! Check back often as others are added daily. Let’s all do this together!
