April Copycat Challenge {Restoration Hardware Wannabe} ABC Frames

23
I am ready for another Copycat Challenge on April 26th hosted over at Debbiedoo’s!
I missed last month due to frustrating stomp my foot down computer technical issues so I am now anxious to link up for this month.
I love this challenge, it has been so much fun in the past.
Here is my inspiration for April:

Restoration Hardware Magazine

I thought these alphabet canvas frames were so cute but for a whopping price tag of $319 for the set…
Ummm, No Thank You.
Surely I could whip up a similar version just right for Buttercup’s room.
I first headed over to the drugstore and purchased two sets of alphabet flashcards and gathered up some foam boards that I had leftover from other projects.  They were drawn on but that’s okay, I am going to cover them anyway!
I sorted out the cards and then used spray glue to adhere them to the foam boards.  Very easy!
I used a few of the frames that I purchased from garage sales last fall and just popped the foam boards into place secured by some clear packaging tape on the back.

Cute, but I was still not satisfied with the final product.  I then decided to spray the frames in off white and distress them a bit.
Ahhhh, much better in creamy white.  And Buttercup loves them in her room!
Here is a recap:
Restoration Hardware Version:  $319 (and don’t forget about shipping!)
My Version:  $5
Thank you to Debbiedoo’s for hosting such a fun challenge!
Mine was simple, didn’t take much talent – I know!
Be sure and click on the button (on the 26th) to go see all of the other actual talented and creative copycats!

 Happy Treasure Hunting!

So adorable Tami! You could even lightly glaze them too if you did not want them so white. They look perfect as is though…just saying I know how you change things up LOL!

  18. Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions

That is adorable, Tami! I love it! And having frames on hand from yard sales or thrift stores is something I like to do, too. You never know when a project like this might come up, and sometimes the frames can be the most expensive part of the project!
