Sneak Peek at my Week! {Friday Block Party Linkup!}

I totally forgot to elaborate on what all of this mess is!  Remember when I shared it with you last week?

And remember the broken desk that I found? To refresh your memory, click HERE.
I’ve worked hard on stripping it, sanding it and painting three coats of primer.
Oh Boy what a Mess!!!
Here is what she looks like now:
I put it on hold until I can go to Home Depot to find a top for it.
The very next day after finding the desk I answered a Freecycle Ad and agreed to pick up two old solid wood dressers.  I figured it was worth a try to go check it out since they were located only a few miles from my home.  Surprisingly I lifted them myself (with the mean, ferocious guard dogs barking at me through the fence!) and the dressers miraculously both fit into the back of my Xterra!
Now MyLove super-sized rolling eyes gave me the impression he was not too thrilled to see three more pieces of furniture stored at our home so I promised him that I would work on them quickly.  I agreed to a self-imposed deadline to finish them within two weeks.
This week three out of four of my kiddos were away visiting grandparents and My Love was out of town on business, so I was inspired to get down to my own business!
To sum up my last few days … paint stripping, sanding, watching Dora, sanding, trips to the pool, sanding, eating, sanding, play with Buttercup, sanding, and more sanding and bath!
Again I stripped ( the furniture ) and stripped and sanded and sanded till my fingers were nubs and going to bed at night with my ears ringing and eyeballs vibrating from the electric sanders.!
Now this guy…

…is looking a bit more like this:
And this Girlie Pink Dresser with about a Kabillion coats of paint (I kid you not!)…
…has been a big thorn in my side and now looks like a Hot Mess!
But There’s Hope!
I have a vision and am on a mission to make them pretty awesome!
I realize these days with all of the fabulous chalk paints out there that I shouldn’t spend all of that time sanding.  But since I find most items on the curb and who knows where they have been, I just feel better sanding and cleaning the pieces like crazy!  Sounds a little OCDish Overkill but makes me feel better, just sayin’!
As soon as I wrap up this post I am going to soak in a SUPER HOT BATH and take two Motrin in hopes that my aching shoulders recover from all of the sanding!
Now for the Curb Alert! Friday Block Party!
I would love to see what you have been up to.  You all inspire me so much!

Love your site! No blog but former home stager. Thought I'd share a hint that I've used for over 15 yrs. I use NEW good quality carpet pad foam to fill out, plump up seating of all kinds. It's fairly inexpensive, very durable, dense and bounces back way better than that expensive but cheap stuff in the fabric stores. Works under mattress pads too! Cheryl
