Welcome to Our Woods! An AMAZING Look At Mother Nature

We have a wooded lot next door to our home…1 and 1/2 acres of woods.

It’s ours … all ours.

At first, when MyLove wanted to purchase it, I thought he was crazy.

Boy was I wrong! so, so wrong!

We have cleared out some paths and living spaces and secret gardens. We are not finished yet but as time passes by I am falling more in love with it.

At the entrance of the path is this little sitting area. Here’s how it looks most of the time.

This summer it’s spruced up a bit with our Patriotic Pallet Flag.

Looking down the path it doesn’t look like much, except for the branches up above that we have molded into trellises. Hopefully the vines will grow over them and fill them in.

At least that’s my plan.

It doesn’t look like much until the path turns and opens up to our favorite place…

At the entrance to our “favorite place” is our “Welcome to Our Woods Pallet Sign”. It was one of the Free Pallets that our neighbor gave us. I will share more details about it in a future post.

A few steps further and it opens up to our clearing and our DIY FIRE PIT. MyLove and our kiddos built it in a day as a surprise for me and I have loved it so much ever since.

We have spent many a cold nights sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows. Also enjoying lots of wine each others’ company!

This is MyLove’s favorite part of the woods. I find him often sitting on the benches that he built…or I find him just around the corner relaxing…

The kiddos even have started putting their mark on the woods by building a
Tree House. So far only the ladder has been constructed!

I’m very excited to show you my favorite part of the woods…

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I am in love with my Terrarium!

Trust me, if I had a space for it in my home I would have it there, but it must reside in the woods and is the highlight of my walk in the woods. The chandelier even lights up and is so pretty at night! L O V E

It has now become my favorite place to be. It’s a place where we go to get away from city life, a place where we can be closer to Nature…

I love that you cannot even tell it’s all back there, our own oasis.

Very few know about our space, well except now you and you won’t tell anyone, right? I hope you felt welcome to our woods, and enjoyed my little tour.

So what is your favorite part of our woods? Thanks for taking a little walk with me today – I hope you enjoyed it as much as we do.

  1. Oh Tami, I just love your Woods … just everything about it. The sign at the entrance is special too … and YES, your terrarium is beautiful. I have always wanted to build one out of old windows … maybe someday.
Thanks for the walk in your special place.

    • I love your woods and secret garden. Thank you for sharing your little bit of heaven. I too have a secret garden in my outdoor chapel. I planted elephant ears and transplanted ferns from one area to another. After hanging a bird feeder and bird house and a cross on trees, I am trimming brush and vines. My sweetie will cut a fallen tree so I can use it as a seating area. By next Spring, it will be lovely.

  2. Tami, I am so envious, your very own woods. How fun to have this special place. Are you visited by any wildlife?
I have to say that the welcome sign is my favorite but your terrarium is beautiful. I can see why it is growing on you.
