I Have a Dream: Martin Luther King, Jr. Pallet Project

I have a friend that was unhappy with our community, mainly the disrespect and intolerance towards one another.   Instead of just sitting back and complaining, he pulled together all of his resources and decided to DO something about it.

He happens to be an awesome motivational speaker.   So last year

he put together a special program for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and it turned into an inaugural community event!   It was so uplifting and successful that he is heading up the program again this year and hopefully in the years to come.

I was honored when he asked that I work on an auction item for his program.  He had an idea of a painted silhouette picture of MLK, Jr. on a pallet.   Of course I had a few pallets laying around, but had to be creative on the silhouette part.
Here is what I came up with:
“Let freedom ring!”
I love the wording of his famous speech, never give up hope.
I love how my friend has decided to not give up on our community, and to continue to spread the word of hope, love and peace.

Have you ever ordered and Engineering Print from Staples?  It was less than $10 for a huge poster size, something worth looking into.
Easy DIY Instructions:
Pallet
Poster
Paint (&Decoupage)
Project Complete
I distressed it a bit with sandpaper and Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint.
My friend has invited everyone in the community to attend, including the youth!
I know he will do a great job and I hope that my little pallet project helps inspire others!

Thanks for letting me share with you!
